Cast members and crew are absolutely delighted with people’s reaction to ‘Wake In The West’. After packed houses and standing ovations last weekend the play has sold out again for this weekend of: Friday, Saturday and Sunday, February 7th / 8th & 9th.
The group found itself in the happy position of having to call an emergency meeting on Thursday night where it was decided to put on two extra nights on the following weekend of Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th of February at 8pm.
‘Wake In The West’ is by Mulranny, Co. Mayo playwright, Michael J.Ginnelly and is a three act comedy.
The plot centres on the wake of Tom Healy, a man who was known to be ‘fond of the drop’. Tom’s controversial last request threatens to humiliate his family and make them the laughing stock of the small fishing village in which they live. Not your regular mass-goer, Tom’s wishes have to be discussed with the priest and doctor – all common practice in 1970’s Ireland. Although the real mayhem begins when Rose, an elderly neighbour arrives at the house to pay her respects! Her actions set in motion a sequence of hilarious events.
“The cast has really enjoyed doing the play so far and it really promises to be a hilarious night’s entertainment,” said group spokesperson, Moira O’Connor.
