What better way is there to forget the winter weather for a few hours as you sit back in the company of friends and family and enjoy an evening’s theatrical entertainment?
The question is a pose and reply exercise by Ballymacelligott Drama Group’s PRO Siobhan O’Connor.
“This year, Ballymacelligott Drama Group is putting on a production which is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. ‘Drinking Habits’, written by playwright Tom Smith, is a traditional laugh-out-loud farce for the whole family that will keep audiences laughing well after the curtain call,” said Siobhan.
The play is set in a convent where accusations, mistaken identities and romances run wild as a new addition to the sisterhood causes suspicion and paranoia – with inevitably hilarious consequences!
“Our three performances will start at 8pm on Friday, February 28th. Saturday, March 1st and Sunday, March 2nd at the Ivy Leaf Art Centre in Castleisland.
The cast includes Kay Dowling, Una Kerins, Catherine Leahy, Angela Lenihan, Siobhan McCarthy, Maurice O’Connell, Leo O’Connor and Tom O’Sullivan, and our director is Ita O’Brien,” Siobhan informs us.
Ballymacelligott Drama Group was founded in 1991 and has presented numerous plays over the years, including: John B Keane’s ‘Big Maggie’ and ‘Moll’, ‘The Memory of Water’ by Shelagh Stephenson, ‘Dancing at Lughnasa’ by Brian Friel and some highly popular farces by another Irish playwright, Sam Cree, such as ‘Cupid Wore Skirts’, ‘Widows’ Paradise’ and ‘Don’t Tell The Wife’.
