Castleisland was buzzing with the business associated with weddings on Friday as dressed-to-the-nines, beautiful people flitted about the place. In that no-man’s-land between church ceremony and hotel reception, many run for the cover of local pubs and avail of the opportunity to ease themselves into the spirit of the day.
During their brief stay they add their colour, elegance and style to the otherwise normal, commercial everydayness of the streets.
One such group attended the wedding of local girl, Janette Ryan and Brendan Rahilly from Scartaglin. Janette is a daughter of Margaret and John Ryan and Brendan is a son of Mary and Jack Rahilly of Scartaglin.
Janette and Brendan were married at the Church of Saints Stephen and John in Castleisland by Fr. Patsy Lynch.
They held their reception at the Killarney Heights Hotel. After a honeymoon in Cancun in Mexico and in Las Vegas they will live in Scartaglin. Every good wish to them for a live of health and happiness. My thanks to Janette’s sister, Mairead for the photographs and the text.
