Scartaglin Craft Fair on Sunday November 30th
The second annual Scartaglin Craft Fair will be held on the Sunday afternoon of November 30th between 2pm and 5pm. The special event this year is a slow bicycle race. The event will be attended by over 18 tables of different, seasonal crafts. There will be: mulled wine and hot chocolate; a Santa grotto; story-telling; the official lighting of village Christmas Tree and Crib and lots fun and crack.
Spike Players to perform in Rambling House
The Knocknagoshel based Spike Players will perform Jack Furey a one act play by Bryan MacMahon. They will perform the play in an old world setting at the Rambling House, Knocknagoshel on this Saturday, November 22nd and Sunday 23rd at 8pm. Tea and scones will be served on the night and are included in the admission fee of €10. Booking is essential as places are limited to 25 persons per night. Bookings on 087 18 011 18.
Maurice Takes Connemara Steps to Bruach Na Carraige
Sean Nós dancing classes will start in Bruach Na Carraige in Rockchapel on the coming Saturday, November 22nd and will continue each Friday evening at 6pm. The classes will be conducted by Maurice O’Keeffe from Brosna who is a well-known, young traditional Sean Nós dancer. Maurice immersed himself in the authenticity of the ancient skill in Carna in Connemara. He brought the secrets and the steps from the Devanes – the famed Sean Nós dancing family up there.

Ladies’ Golf Club Notes
Fixtures: 12 Hole re entry throughout winter months, play holes 7 through 18 but make sure to use the Old score cards. Joint Captain’s end of year party will be held on Saturday November 22nd at Castleisland Golf Club 8pm. Music by The Voice competitor Roel. Social Dancing at the River Island Hotel
Social Dancing at the River Island Hotel here in Castleisland continues every Thursday night from 9pm to 11-30pm. On recent Thursday nights the likes of, Co. Clare native, PJ Murrihy played here as did TR Dallas. On this Thursday night, November 20th Jason Travers will be on stage and the following week, November 27th. Shay O’Callaghan will provide the music. Admission is €8 and the doors open at 9pm.
Community College Musical Treat in Store
Castleisland Community College Choir and Musicians will feature at the public mass in the Church of Saints Stephen and John on Saturday December 6th at 6:15pm.
