“Handed Down is a warm-up for World Fiddle Day in Scart on May 16th. It’s a celebration of the fiddle and traditional music and song of area with Scartaglin as its centre. The Cordal and Castleisland areas and their contributions to the tradition have also come under the scope in the course of the series.

The Handed Down nights in Scart have been gaining in popularity since taking that first tentative step last September. They have been drawing audiences from both sides of the border straddled by the culture and mind-set of Sliabh Luachra. Now,  May 16th is the fiddlers’ focus and the all-out celebration of the instrument in its rightful place looms large.
