In a move which has left the Kerry Ladies Football Board in a state of disappointment and thinly veiled disgust, representatives of the Laois ladies team and management sent a last minute notice that they will not travel to Castleisland for today’s scheduled National League fixture here at 2pm.
A spate of inexplicable, overnight illnesses among team members has been cited by the Laois County Board in forcing it to call off the fixture and they have just informed their Kerry counterparts now.
Kerry board PRO, Pat Hartnett said their members and the team are very disappointed at this strange turn of events.
“It is a National League game after all and teams go to great lengths to fulfill fixtures with that kind of status every week up and down the country and in all kinds of weather.
This is a very strange move on their part and maybe they’ll get back to us to explain their last minute decision over the coming days. A lot of work gas gone into the arrangements for this game and now we are going through untangling it all after this shock announcement,” said Mr. Hartnett in a phone call just now.
