The death has been announced of Kilfelim, Farranfore native, Castleisland resident, Jack O’Callaghan at the age of 93.

The late Mr. O’Callaghan enjoyed a certain celebrity status in his Castleisland Day Care Centre circle after the February 2012 visit by his RTÉ Radio and TV presenter niece, Miriam O’Callaghan.

The previous July, Ms. O’Callaghan also travelled from Dublin for her uncle’s 90th birthday celebrations at the Ballygarry House Hotel near Tralee.

There, close to 100 family members, neighbours and friends helped him celebrate his great milestone.

A native of Kilfelm near Farranfore, Jack spent 40 years in London before he moved home and settled in Castleisland. Here he became a popular and regular presence at the local day care centre.
