A timely notice from Liz Galwey reminds us that Good Friday is fast approaching. Since that day in 1999 the local branch of the Kerry Hospice Foundation has been organising its annual Good Friday Fundraising Walk – or ‘The Hospice Walk’ as it has been adopted and rechristened in the culture and habit of the locality.
“Members are encouraging locals to join in and support this good cause. The walk will take the usual route which commences at Gaelscoil Aogáin at 11am and go from there past Crag Cave and down around Churchtown. It will take just an hour of your time,” said Liz.
While sponsorship cards are available at Shanahan’s Haven Pharmacy, Galwey Auctioneers, Church Street and Phil Horan’s Killarney Road, the option to walk and make a personal donation on the day is very much encouraged.
This major fundraiser will take place on April 3rd and funds raised will go towards the development of the new in-patient unit which will be commencing shortly on the grounds of Kerry General Hospital.
