Cill na Martra fiddler and now author and composer,  Connie O’Connell has just released a book ‘Bóithrín Na Smaointe’ which includes a pair of CDs of tunes he has written and some of them co-written with his daughter, Áine.
Friends of his are organising ‘a celebration of the book rather than a book/cd launch’ at Browne’s Bar here in Castleisland on this Saturday night, April 18th from 9-30pm or so.
It will be a night of music with fellow musicians and those who participated in the compilation of the recordings. A limited number of copies of the book / cds at €40 will be available to purchase on the night.
There is a mode for those who want to learn the tunes. In the course of the book he mentions Browne’s Bar, Castleisland and The Mills in Ballyvourney as places of welcome for music and musicians. A good night in the making.
