Kind-hearted sixth class pupils in Scartaglin National School contributed part of their Confirmation Day money to a Crumlin Children’s Hospital in which their class-mate, Rory O’Connell was undergoing treatment on their big day.
The collection by Rang VI was supplemented by a Pancake Tuesday Party Day and other events in the school involving the pupils, teachers, parents and friends.
Rory O’Connell returned to visit his class-mates and friends in Scartaglin Schoool on Thursday.
Rory’s mother, Maura O’Connell presented a medal to school principal, Mairéad Uí Bhrosnacháin to acknowledge the €1,230 contribution from the school children to Crumlin’s Children’s Hospital. The medal is from the Children’s Medical & Research Foundation at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin, where Rory has been a patient for the last few months.
“The school is pleasantly surprised to be awarded this medal in recognition of their donation. Pupils, staff, parents, management and friends are delighted to see Rory so well again – Buíochas Le Dia!”, said Mairéad.
