The late Tadhg O’Brien of Scartaglin worked on the committee of the Castleisland Co-Op Livestock Mart for more than 20 years.
Richard Harnett’s managerial term covered Tadhg’s involvement there and Richard described him as a hard-working farmer who made good land out of what the Lord provided him with.
“The Lord created land – good and bad – and Tadhg was the right man to give a parcel of poor land to. He and his farm manger and close friend, Kevin O’Connell were a marvelous team and they were very productive farmers who worked very well together. If Ireland had more people like them we would be far better off nowadays,” said Mr. Harnett today.
If Tadhg O’Brien had passions or hobbies it was probably his involvement with Fianna Fáil locally and the IFA. May God be good to him.
