The Rockchapel Comhaltas Sliabh Luachra Summer School in Bruach Na Carraige, Rockchapel will run from August 3rd to 8th.
Master classes will be directed by Nicky McAuliffe who is a leading authority on traditional Irish music.
Nicky will focus on the recently discovered traditional music manuscripts in the National Traditional Music Archives in Dublin and in Elsberry, Missouri, in the United States.
This includes music dating back to the end of the 1700s.
Ancient Manuscripts
These manuscripts came from Dan Curtin, his son Dave Dan Curtin, of Stagmount, Rockchapel and from Dave Leahy of Secandgloss, Mountcollins who died in 1907.
There will also be workshops for traditional step dancing and Sean Nós dancing in the afternoons and these will be directed by Maurice O’Keeffe.
