Kerry U-16 defeat Galway in U-16 All-Ireland Final Kerry 7-15 to Gawlay 3-3 in Bruff, Co. Limerick.
Castleisland Desmonds Ladies GAA Club was represented on last night’s All-Ireland U-16 winning team by Labhaoise Walmsley. Last night’s win means that, in just over a year, Laboaoise has collected three All-Ireland football medals. One at U-14 level with Kerry in Nenagh in July 2014; an All-Ireland club medal with Desmonds in Clare in November and now this one for the All-Ireland U-16 championship in Bruff last night. In the U-14 final in July 2014 she scored three goals and a point. Quite an achievement – without mentioning countless basketball All-Ireland titles and honours.
The Kerry U-16 selection panel included Joanne Brosnan, Currow and Julie Brosnan, Scartaglin.
The Kerry ladies defeated Galway on the run-away score of 7-15 to 3-3 in Bruff on last night The writing was all over Facebook at half time with reports that the Kerry girls were cautious but coasting on a 3-9 to 1-2 lead.
On their path to the final Kerry beat Waterford, Cork and Dublin. As a result of the gathering momentum, all represented parishes and clubs on the team organised and filled busses for last night’s memorable trip to Bruff.
