Castleisland Community College boys will be the sole Kerry representatives at the Basketball Ireland Schools’ Cup finals next week.
The local boys, who have taken a string of high profile scalps on their way to this decider, will play St Columb’s College, Derry in the SUBWAY U-19 B Boys All-Ireland Schools’ Cup Final on Tuesday, January 26th at 130pm in the National Basketball Arena, Tallaght.
The Co. Derry college qualified for its fourth All-Ireland final in eight years in Dublin on Friday.
Under the guidance of Maurice Casey, the Castleisland team is looking to add to a probably unrivalled list of national honours in both boys’ and girls’ competitions down through the years.
En route to the final the squad of 14 had victories over: Colaiste Einde; Pobalscoil Inbhear Scéine; CBS, Ennistymon and De La Salle, Waterford.
Coach Casey said that they do have one injury worry in Shane O’Connell but they are confident that he will line out in the final and that the squad will be worthy contestants on the day.
The squad includes: Jonathon Hillard, Shane O’Connell, Alex Fleming, Nathan Nolan, Adam Nolan, Padraig O’Connell, Eodhan Browne, Ryan Maguire, Sean O’Connell, Jack Curran, Sean B. O’Connell, Patrick Horan, Seamus Barry and John Bobiles. We wish them Good Luck in their quest for All-Ireland glory in Tallaght on Tuesday.
