Kerry Independent Deputy Michael Healy Rae has welcomed the announcement by the Department of Agriculture that the balance of the payment in the 2015 Basic Payment Scheme to farmers throughout the country will be paid out over the course of the next couple of weeks.
This involves payments totaling €15million.
In welcoming the development Deputy Healy Rae said:
“Farmers have been waiting too long for this balancing payment considering the extremely long winter of 2015/2016.
“The fact that they owe a lot of money to feed suppliers and contractors and this announcement will be welcomed by every farmer who is waiting for it.” he said.
