Walsh Inspired as Cordal/Scart Minors Went to Town on Legion

Minor County League Round 1. Cordal/Scart 2-18 Legion 1-08
Cordal/Scart minors got the new season off to the best possible start with a comprehensive victory over Legion in this opening County League game played in ideal conditions in Direen.

Cordal/Scart led 1-10 to 1-04 at half time. Shay Walsh struck for the visitors’ goal from the penalty spot in the 12th minute after Kieran Enright was fouled. Micheál Devlin, also from the penalty spot in the 23rd minute, was Legion’s goal scorer.

Second Goal

Cordal/Scart stretched their lead further in the third quarter scoring a further 1-05 without reply. Captain, Sean Walsh got through for the second goal in the fourth minute of the second half after good work by brothers Sean and Eddie Horan.

Darragh Lyne, Cian Sheehan and Barry Slattery (0-02) kicked points for the home side in the final quarter but Shay Walsh, who ended the afternoon with 1-08, and Sean O’Connell ensured a comfortable victory for Cordal/Scart when referee Padraig O’Sullivan blew the final whistle.

Fog Halts Play in the East Kerry Senior League Round 2
For health and safety reasons due to dense fog, referee Brendan Brosnan had to call off the East Kerry Senior League Round 2 game between Scartaglin and Templenoe with 25 minutes on the clock.

Templenoe were leading 1-04 to 0-03 at this stage with Tim Coakley, Pa Rahilly and Tom Fortune getting on the scoresheet for Scart while Stephen O’Sullivan 0-03, Jordan Schmidt 1-00 and Kieran McCarthy 0-01 were the scorers for Templenoe.
The Scart team lined out as follows: David Kerins, Sean O’Connell, Ger O’Connor, Aaron Gallagher, Alan Horan, Padraig Reidy, Sean Tangney, Brendan Rahilly, Niall Casey, Hugh O’Connor, Pa Rahilly, captain; Tom Fortune, John Thompson, Tim Coakley and Padraig Breen.
