There was cause for celebration at Curranes National School on the evening of Thursday, May 27th when the twelve sixth class pupils of 2020 returned to the yard of their alma mater for a private and socially distanced graduation ceremony.
Covid-19 restrictions in June 2020 did not allow the school to hold a graduation ceremony before the school summer holidays.
Organised Outdoor Event
Current guidelines allow for an organised outdoor event of up to 15 people.
This afforded the school the opportunity of inviting the twelve pupils back to their old school yard. Three teachers were in attendance on the evening to welcome the returning pupils.
The school was awarded a Discover Primary Science and Maths Award in November 2020.
An Instrumental Role
Last year’s sixth class pupils played an instrumental role in this achievement.
They were delighted to be presented with their Discover Primary Science Maths Certificates on the evening.
The recipients included: Abigail Horan, Nathan Kirby, Jamie Kerins, Seán O’Connor, Max O’Connell, Seán Flynn, Amber Heaton, Colin Downey, Neil Reidy, Zara McAuliffe, Caoimhe O’Connor and Hannah Griffin.
