Man Apologetic and Embarrassed After By-Pass Rubbish Accident

The Castleisland by-pass as photographed by John Riordan on Monday. A genuine accident saw household rubbish and the packaging from a consignment of fashion-wear addressed to a woman in Abbeyfeale blown from an uncovered trailer along the roadside under and around the Mullaghmarkey fly-over.

I was contacted by the person responsible for the rubbish found on the Castleisland By-pass after the article appeared here on Monday.

The man was on his way to Higgins’ waste disposal facility in Tralee to recycle and dispose of his cargo with an uncovered trailer.
A cardboard box and a bag of household rubbish was blown off the trailer without his knowledge and he subsequently took full responsibility for it.
He was later contacted by Kerry County Council and was able to produce a receipt from Higgins’ waste disposal facility and he offered to go back to clean up the area but that had already been done by council staff.
The man is mortified that this happened and he said that it’s a lesson learned and he’ll be covering his trailer in future.
“This is certainly not something I would knowingly do and I apologise to all concerned for this slip up and for any upset I may have caused,” he said.
