Garvey’s SuperValu in Castleisland was announced as a finalist in the running for the highly coveted and recognised ‘SuperValu Store of the Year 2024’ title, making it one of the top 10 SuperValu stores in Ireland.

The stores had their achievements recognised at the SuperValu National Conference, which was held in the Great Southern Hotel, Killarney, where they were presented with their finalist award by SuperValu Managing Director, Ian Allen and SuperValu Sales Director, Dan Curtin.

Choosing Deserving Finalists

Paul Ellison, independent judge, and retail consultant, was tasked with assessing and adjudicating SuperValu stores around the Republic of Ireland and choosing the deserving winner.

This year’s store audits focused on product range and quality, customer service, store presentation and innovation, fresh food offering and store hygiene standards as well as sustainability.

SuperValu Managing Director, Ian Allen, recognised the efforts made by the Castleisland store.

Testament to Hard Work and Commitment

“Being recognised as a finalist in the SuperValu Store of the Year Awards is a testament to the hard work and commitment to retail standards shown by Garvey’s SuperValu Castleisland throughout the year. Their focus on product range and quality, customer service and sustainability was evident throughout the store. Congratulations to the team at SuperValu Castleisland on this fantastic achievement,” said Mr. Allen.

In response to the award, local store Manager Séamus O’Connor said that the good news was all down to the commitment and dedication of the ‘Castleisland Team.’

The Secret of Teamwork

“I always say the same thing when occasions like this arise. We have a brilliant team which works very hard and very well together.

“We’d have nothing only for the team members, they can work wonders individually and even more so as a team and that shows in the appearance and the presentation of the store.

“We get compliments from customers for the lay-out and product presentation in the various departments here and we’re very grateful for that. I always let them in on the secret of the brilliant teamwork behind what they find so appealing about the store,” said Séamus.
