The 2024 Celtic Junior Challenge will be held in Wales on Saturday on June 29th in the Terry Griffiths Matchroom in Llanelli South Wales.
The Snooker & Billiards Ireland (SBI) team and supporters will depart by ferry on Friday evening, June 28th and will play on the 29th and return on the 30th.
On the ferry will be 13 year old local player Aaron Horan and his parents Gerard and Denise.
Equipped with a love of the sport and a bespoke snooker room at home in Glounsharoon, the Castleisland Community College student has taken part in similar internationals in recent years.
Aaron knows what’s ahead of him over the weekend in Wales as he played a son of Welsh star Mark Williams in an international last year.
Training Camp with PJ and Aaron Hill
SBI organisers will hold a team training day with PJ Hill on Saturday the 22nd of June from 11am-4pm in the SBI headquarters in Carlow.
Any player who has not got an Irish Waistcoat will be given a loan of a SBI Irish Waistcoat for the event at the training day in Carlow.
Rising Irish Pro Snooker player and Corkman Aaron ‘The Breeze’ Hill will join the players for this junior training camp to pass on advice to the young Irish stars of the future.
A Great Day in Carlow
Aaron Hill will be taking on the young players in mini games during the day and it promises to be a great day in the Carlow.
Aaron Horan is very grateful to Tommy Dowling of Tralee Snooker Club who has organised tournaments with Aaron involved.
“Tommy Dowling is a constant source of support to me and gets me involved in tournaments and I appreciate the interest and support he has shown in my career so far,” said Aaron against a backdrop of framed photographs of the sport’s superstars, Ronnie O’Sullivan and Jimmy White in the entirely snooker dedicated room.
