Desmonds U-15 Ladies Playing for Club and County at Féile Peile na nÓg

The Kerry Division One U-15 Football Championship winning Castleisland Desmonds Ladies GAA Club team and management who will represent their club and county at the John West 2024 Féile Peile na nÓg and the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence, Bekan, Co Mayo on Saturday, June 29th. Castleisland Desmonds GAA Club, while recovering from one of its most successful Garda Eugene Leonard Memorial Family Fun Days, has turned its attention to the John West 2024 Féile Peile na nÓg.

With just cause, as the club will be represented by its U-15 Ladies team because of its status as a Kerry Division One Championship winning side.

The Desmonds ladies team and mentors will travel to the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence in Bekan, Co Mayo on Saturday, June 29th.

While up to 200 teams, comprising of 3,640 players will take part in John West Féile na nGael finals taking place at 22 venues across Ireland for sides outside the top division on the same day.

John West Féile brings together thousands of young hurlers, camogie players and Gaelic footballers in a celebration of the GAA’s community ethos through underage competition.

Féile Part of the GAA Calendar

Uachtarán CLG, Jarlath Burns, said that the John West Féile is an integral part of the GAA calendar.

“It nurtures an enthusiasm for our games, where friendships and memories are made,” he said.

“Generations have experienced the joy of being a part of Féile na nGael and Féile Peile na nÓg, and I look forward to seeing this tradition continue this year.

“Our thanks to John West for their support in the promotion of this competition and to the national organising committee for their work on John West Féile 2024,”said Mr. Burns.

Fun, Friendship and Participation

Ladies Gaelic Football Association President, Mícheál Naughton, highlighted John West Féile’s emphasis on fun, friendship, and participation.

“Players will make new friends and re-connect with old friends. John West Féile will once again provide young players with lifelong memories.”

On behalf of the team representing Castleisland Desmonds Ladies GAA Club and the club in general, Aileen Lynch expressed a widely shared sense of pride in the team and its achievements to date.

‘Idonate’ Fundraiser Launched

“As a club we are extremely proud that our U-15 girls will represent their club and county at national level at the prestigious Division 1 Féile competition on June 29th.

“We have launched an idonate fundraiser to help finance the travel and gear expenses and we are very grateful for all contributions made through the link here.

“Thanks to Educate.ie who produced advertising material for us and thanks also to all the players, managers and parents  involved,” ,” said Aileen.
