A notice of great importance to local musicians and music lovers in the Castleisland area and its environs has come our way from Patrick O’Keeffe Traditional Music Festival boss, Cormac O’Mahony.
It seems that Jerome ‘Fagin’ Hartnett has agreed to house the musical refugees from the now closed Kearney’s Bar – as long as the mid Main Street premises remains closed.
The Tuesday night session was firmly established by Pats and Linda Broderick in the mid 1980s after they moved into the Shoemaker’s Bar.
Musicians and Singers Welcome
It has been in Kearney’s Bar now for the most of the past two decades under the management of Johnny Cahill and most recently under the late Betty O’Connell.
That the session will move to a new home and its survival is secured will be welcome news for all those for whom Tuesday night was special for all those years past.
Tonight’s first Tuesday night in Fagin’s will get underway at 9:30pm and there’ll be a welcome before all musicians and singers in a house which has hosted the best in the business over the years.
