Buses for Cataract Procedure – An Important Announcement from Danny Healy Rae TD

Danny Healy Rae, TD, inset against the reception area of Kingsbridge Hospital in Belfast. He’s advising anybody in need of a cataract procedure to book their place now on one of the three buses he’s arranging during this month of August to beat the reduction in the post procedure reimbursement rates being imposed by the HSE.

As the HSE made an announcement recently that the reimbursement to people who go to Belfast for a catatact procedure would be reduced, I immediately raised the matter in the Dail.

I addressed the issues involved with the Taoiseach and Minister for Health and the HSE have agreed to extend the date of changes to the reimbursement until the end of this month, August 2024.

Therefore, I am advising anybody who is in need of a cataract procedure to book your place now on one of the three buses I have arranged during the month of August.

Please contact myself or my office for full details and everything will be arranged for you.

I assure you that I am continually making strong representations in the hope that until such time as the government can provide a proper service for people in the Republic of Ireland that this reimbursement is reinstated to the full amount to ensure people can go to Belfast to get their sight back.
