Kerry Ladies – Power On
We send our very best to the amazing Kerry Ladies LGFA squad who embark on another All Ireland Final this Sunday.
These powerful women are a source of much pride to their families and all the young women who enjoy being part of the LGFA world.
Take with you into this final the knowledge that all your efforts, focus and talents are admired and valued by all who have the privilege to watch you play. Thank you.
All Ireland Armagh V Galway
Another weekend of all Ireland final action as the might of Armagh met the Tribesmen of Galway in what could be described as a tense battle of wits.
There was very little between the sides in terms of scores or manoeuvres throughout most of the game. It was probably more a case of Galway losing the game rather than Armagh winning in the second half. We congratulate both teams for presenting a game of clean but powerful football. It might not have been the exciting open contest we would have wished for but I’m sure Armagh, as they rest on their laurels sipping from the cup of victory, won’t spare a thought for that notion.
The Stork has Landed
Congrats to Micheál and Deirdre who welcomed daughter Siofra recently.
I met young Ruadhan in the Post Office recently and he looked like an older brother who is just learning about the misery of being usurped by a cute new bundle.
I’m sure he will embrace his role as big brother and discover that a younger sister can add value in time. Remember, you’ll always need someone in goals when you’re practicing football.
Thought for the Week
Yerra the weather is awful. Stop right there. If I hear anyone else bemoaning the sorry state of the weather or the lack of sustained heat I’ll flip.
I found myself slipping into the same mode recently as I put on the heating one evening in mid-July.
This habit of looking at what’s wrong with the weather detracts from all the aspects of what’s good about it. In a sense, it’s a metaphor for how we look at our lives. For instance, we see our bodies from the perspective of what’s wrong with them. Maybe a few extra pounds, a little less mobility, a couple of wrinkles.
When in fact we should be looking at how this spectacular physical contained aka our body takes us through our lives. It allows us to move about, love, share and celebrate the joy of living with those around us. Try to focus on all that’s right with you and your world.
The more you zoom in on the good stuff, the smaller the flaws become. Same with the weather. Just pull on an extra layer and embrace the outdoors.
The world flows in its own way, our task is to swim with the currents and not sit on the shore complaining about the water. Shake off those moaning habits and embrace life as it presents itself to us now. Come on in, the water’s fine.
