We’ve just had a lovely few days at the recently opened Castleisland Community Museum with a visit on Tuesday afternoon from the clients and management of the local day care centre.

Another group visited earlier today and yet another on Friday afternoon at around 2pm.

The evening opening times between 7 and 9pm have also seen an increase in visitor numbers.

There is no charge – if you can pardon the woeful contradiction in that brief few words – on people dropping in to the museum as visitors are contributing more that they realise with comments and tips as to the availability of historical items out there under our noses in the area around us.

Tonight, there is a switch in focus as the museum will host its first musical evening at 8pm at the Cordal side of Tom McCarthy’s Central Bar.

Musicians, singers and dancers are all welcome to come along and make it a first night to remember.
