When Tadhg McGillicuddy opened The Forge Coffee and Market Store in the Latin Quarter in Castleisland in November 2021, he did so with the distinct aim of keeping things local.
By Dan Kearney
The particular focus was on supporting local suppliers and producers and it’s fair to say that he has been true to his word in this regard, with over 30 small business’s supplying their products to The Forge.
As we all know, Castleisland is a sports mad community and Tadhg has also been anxious to help out local clubs as much as he possibly can.
A former Castleisland Desmonds player himself, as was his wife Nicole, there was no hesitation when the Desmonds Ladies came calling to ask for sponsorship for new jackets.
Support and Sponsorship for Desmonds Ladies
“Myself and the team at the Forge Coffee and Market Store were delighted to support and sponsor the Desmonds Ladies,” said Tadhg.
“It’s important for local businesses to support the local community and support sport groups. In a town like Castleisland, where businesses depend on locals to support small businesses like The Forge, it is vital to support and put back into the town itself through community sports groups and other areas around the town.
“In a world or online shopping and the diminishing small independent businesses, it’s vital for people to recognise the value of keeping the small Irish businesses going and supporting them where possible.”
Local Links Throughout
And so say all of us. Another local link to the local community is that the jackets were manufactured by Nelligan Sports, ably led by Castleisland native Danny Nelligan of the famous football and baking family.
All in Castleisland Desmonds Ladies Club would like to sincerely thank Tadhg and his team at The Forge for their generous sponsorship.
The jackets will be worn with pride by the Desmonds senior ladies and hopefully it will be a winning combination when they meet Dr Crokes in the Kerry Senior Championship Semi Final at Lewis Road on September 22nd.
