Well Done to all Involved

The Parish is looking very trim. I took a short stroll to the Holy Well at the weekend and admired the lovely flowers that adorned the tarred path.

The neat seating area was occupied by a group of polite young fellas who were enjoying the last few rays of sunshine. It’s great there’s an outdoor setting where young people can gather, chat and connect because now that school has reopened these young people will be behind glass for the majority of their weeks. Thank you so much to the wonderful people who had the vision to create such an attractive amenity and to all those workers who maintain it for our pleasure.

Thought for The Week

The landscape of grief is complex. We are overtaken by waves of great emotion. Love and Loss seem to be the emotions that bring the greatest solace and sorrow respectively.

When someone who was a daily and beloved part of our lives is gone we feel that sharp pang of loss. We no longer get to physically enjoy their presence.

There’s an empty space on a sofa. That warm greeting that met us when we returned from a journey is patently absent. The more we focus on what we have lost, the sharper the sorrow.

The balm that soothes this sorrow is the remembrance of love and the memories of shared experiences, of fun, laughter and togetherness.

But this love isn’t something that grows old and dusty over time. In fact, this deep love becomes more profound as the daily distraction of life are removed from the connection.

Focusing, at times of grief, on the pure love that we shared may feel bittersweet but it is a living gift that presents itself to us each day.

A gift that is renewed, tangible and fresh. Love never dies. It is within the beating of our hearts, uniting us with those who knew and cherished the one who has gone on ahead. Let Love not Loss be our tribute.
