Bewley’s Big Coffee Morning for Hospice takes place on Thursday, September 26th and this year marks the 32nd on which the annual event will be held.
It still remains one of the biggest community based fundraisers for Hospice throughout the country and Castleisland’s coffee ‘morning’ will last until early evening.
The Castleisland fundraising branch of Kerry Hospice will host its coffee morning Upper Main Street in the former Shanahan’s Pharmacy / Shoes 4U premises beside Centra; the event will run from 9am to 5pm and your support on theday would be much appreciated.
Noreen Cremins will also host a coffee morning at the same time in Shanahan’s Haven Pharmacy at Garvey’s SuperValu.
Home or Business Hosting
The local fundraising branch is also inviting people to host an event, this can take place in their own homes or businesses. Coffee and promotional material will be provided.
As always, there is flexibility around the event so if September 26th doesn’t, then it can be arranged for any another morning.
Recently, the Chair of Kerry Hospice, Jack Shanahan, announced that due to the increased demand for the service in the county, the foundation has submitted a planning application for further development of its palliative care unit.
The application includes the addition of five extra inpatient unit beds while support facilities for patients, their families and staff, are also part of the development and these upgrades will be funded locally by voluntary fundraising.
Delighted with Home Baking
It is hoped that subject to planning permission being granted, the expanded service will be fully operational within two years.
The local branch would be delighted with donations of baking for Thursday, September 26th. and anyone who would like to drop baked goods may do so on the morning of the event.
