As part of ongoing investigations targeting the sale and supply of drugs and related criminal activity, Gardaí from the Kerry Divisional Drug Unit, supported by the Armed Support Unit and other local units, conducted a day of action in the Castleisland area of County Kerry on Tuesday.
The statement from the Phoenix Park based Garda Press Office continues:
“In the course of the operation, Gardaí executed a series of coordinated searches at seven residential properties.
Female and Male Arrested
“These searches resulted in the seizure of suspected cocaine and cannabis, valued at approximately €40,000 (analysis pending). Three registered firearms and a range of items related to criminal activity were also seized.
One male in his 40s and a woman her 30s were arrested and conveyed to a Garda Station in the Southern Region. They are currently being detained under the provisions of Section 50 Criminal Justice Act, 2007.
The drugs seized will undergo further analysis by Forensic Science Ireland (FSI).
The investigation is ongoing.
