Another Lively Liveline Debate on AHAR Today

Maybe there were charities in the history of the state which polarised opinion like the Animal Heaven Animal Rescue (AHAR) seems to nowadays. But they would have been few and far between and not heard of near as much as the Crag West, Castleisland facility has been over the past couple of years. What’s incredible… Read more…

Talking Points Linger After Great Fair

Talking Points Linger After Great Fair

There is a good handful of lingering memories hanging over from this year’s November Horse Fair. Foremost is the wonderful weather conditions in which it was held. Weather Looking Good for Monday’s Horse Fair Day

Weather Looking Good for Monday’s Horse Fair Day

It’s looking increasingly likely that the weather will have cleared up considerably and considerately even as Castleisland’s annual Horse Fair takes to the streets of the town early on Monday morning. The surly appearance of the sky this morning wouldn’t give one any great hopes. However, even though we’re in the season for this type… Read more…

November Horse Fair Day – Never on a Sunday

November Horse Fair Day – Never on a Sunday

The old greek song, ‘Never on a Sunday’ could stand as a reminder to Castleislanders that our only remaining fair day, the November 1st Horse Fair is never held on a Sunday when the 1st falls on the day of obligation. Then, tradition dictates that it goes out to the following Monday. The fair may… Read more…

Scene Set for Second Chamber Alliance Meeting

There was a head-lice scare once upon a time when I was at national school. I can’t remember the exact details of it now but I know our class members – at least – were given notes to take home one evening and for some kind of root-and-branch examination to be done there. I do… Read more…
