March 23rd Diary Date for 5K Fun Runners

On Sunday, March 23rd at 11am the participants in the second Muire Gan Smal Primary School 5k fun run will gather outside the school in Creamery Lane / Convent Street.
A group of parents – who just happened to be serial runners – organised the event in February last year and they attracted 264 runners and joggers and walkers and buggy pushing supporters of all ages.
Of course there was the serious side of the men’s and women’s senior races and the brief synopsis of the results here shows the calibre of the athletes who took part:
1 Ed Murphy, Senior Men 15.58; 2 Dónal O Callaghan, Senior Men 16.01; 3 John Barrett, Senior Men 16.02. 10 Siobhán Daly, Senior Ladies 19.57; 16 Clodagh Enright, Primary Girls 21.48 and 17 Janette Ryan Senior Ladies 22.15.
