A Trip Back in Time with Dermot Horan

On power out time on Wednesday I went back through my cardboard boxes of photographs and this one caught my eye. It looks like a confirmation class photograph. It was taken at Castleisland Boys’ National School in 1971 and was given to me years ago by Dermot Horan. Dermot, who is included in the photograph himself, even inserted the names of the class members in the caption who were missing on the day. They were: Denis Barry, Colm Moloney, Johnny Nolan, Timmy Murphy and Jackie McGaley.

Middle row from left: Gary Stack, Con Wren, John Lynch, Paudie McGlynn, Patsy McGlynn, Gene McCarthy, Patrick Hayes, Tom Reidy and George Jameson. Back from left: Fergus Griffin, Gerard Quinlan, Colin Cahill, Donie Broderick, Tom Divane, William Keane, Eamonn Prendiville, Willie Leane and Dan Lyons. Photograph courtesy of Dermot Horan.
