Our Friday Favourite this week takes us back to August 1990 and to a field just a field away from where I’m sitting now.
On a fine, August evening back then two neighbouring teams of U-14 footballers from Currow and Scartaglin battled it out for a place in the Castleisland U-14 District League Final of 1990.
Currow won the right to go forward on the occasion.
Currow dominated the first half and scored great points. Scartaglin made some changes at half time and improved greatly as a result.
However, a goal hunt which didn’t work and some missed chances cost them dearly and Currow took the honours on a score of: 2-12 to 1-8.
