Cordal Coiste Na nÓg Visit to Croke Park

By: Danny Kelliher

Cordal GAA Club’s U-12’s wore their jerseys with pride and displayed their footballing skills at the Munster GAA Activity Day at Croke Park on Tuesday. An experience of a lifetime was how it was described by some of the team. A great day was had by all the players, mentors and families, who made the bus trip to headquarters. Thanks to the mentors and families members who took time off work to make the trip possible

The team also enjoyed a guided trip of the GAA Museum. Hopefully, some of the team might make another appearance at headquarters in the years to come sporting the Green & Gold.

 U-14

Cordal/Scartaglen played Glenflesk in Division 1 of the East Kerry, Unfortunately Glenflesk proved too strong on the night, and the final score was Cordal/Scartaglen 3-07 to Glenflesk 5-12.

This means that the team are now out of the East Kerry Region Competition and take a well-earned rest after the successes of the season so far.

U-16

U-16 action continues with Castleisland District action against Desmonds which was played in Scartaglen on Wednesday 9th of July. Report to follow in the week’s paper.

In 2014, Cordal GAA might not be able to repeat the off-field achievements of 2013 where among other occasions; the President of the GAA attended a Gala Dinner at our Club and where we also made a major contribution to a television program of the importance of GAA to Ireland.

This year, it is the achievements of our under-age players playing in the Cordal and the Cordal/Scartaglen jersey that are really doing the Club proud. Under 12’s playing at Croke Park, Under 14’s winning the County League Division 3 and U16’s narrowly beaten in the final of Division 3 of the East Kerry Championship and winning Division 3 of the East Kerry League.

It is a timely reminder to the people working so hard in the administration of the Club and to the Community that as grass not weeds now grow at the Cordal GAA field that the footballing future is indeed in safe hands. It is also a timely reminder to the rest of us of the requirement that players of all ages have a facility where they can play their games in and be proud of; this requirement is becoming a reality. Please continue to support the club Lotto.
