Castleisland Desmonds GAA Club would like to thank the following race sponsors of their fundraiser night at the dogs held at the Tralee Greyhound Stadium on Saturday night:  Rhyno Mills;  Den Joes Fast Food;  Garvey’s SuperValu; Lynch’s Pharmacy;  Kerry Airport; Tomo Burke Electrical;  Castleisland Co-Op Mart;   Nolan’s Garage;   Kingdom Oil and Divane’s Garage.

The following were the prize winners in the raffle:  Breda Geaney won the €250 which was sponsored by Garvey’s SuperValu; George O’ Callaghan won the necklace sponsored by Fashion World;  Patsy O’ Connor was the winner of the meal voucher sponsored by the River Island Hotel; Allison McGaley won the voucher from Shanahan’s Pharmacy;  Jermy Burke won the voucher from Ó Riada’s and Tom Brennan Jnr won the meal voucher from Divas and Dudes.

The club organisers are grateful to all the sponsors and workers and who attended and made the night a huge success .

Congratulations to Desmonds U-13 Ladies on their  Co League win on Saturday .

Best wishes from all in the club go to Thomas Hickey as he will captain Kerry in the All-Ireland Junior Football Championship Final on Saturday, August 23rd in Portlaoise at 3pm.

Local ladies: Lorraine Scanlon, Aoife Lyons, Aisling Leonard and Cait Lynch all played a major part in Kerry’s win over Donegal. Kerry now go on to play Dublin in the All Ireland quarter final on August 23rd at a venue to be decided .

Hugh O’Connell won the €500 Buster Prize which was kindly sponsored by Divane’s Main VW Dealers, Killarney Road.

The sympathies of the club are extended to the following: the family of Denis ‘Denny’ O’Sullivan, Barrack Street who died during the week.

To Kathleen, Dan, and Gerard Reidy on the death of Kathleen’s sister, Eileen in Ballyduff.

To the family of Phil O’Mahony, Killarney Road and to the family of Donal Curtin, Knocknagoshel. The late Mr. Curtin is a former chairman of Desmonds Ladies Football Committee and also a former chairman of the Kerry Ladies County Board.

A minute’s silence will be observed before the home Co.SFL  game against Glenbeigh-Glencar on Sunday as a mark of respect for all mentioned.

Fixtures: Sunday, August 17th at 2pm. Round 9 of the County Senior Football League: Castleisland Desmonds v Glenbeigh-Glencar.  A point from this game will guarantee Desmonds promotion.

Monday, August 18th: North Kerry Minor League: Castleisland Desmonds V Asdee/Ballylongford at 7.30pm.

Wednesday, August 20th County U-21 Club Championship: Castleisland Desmonds V Lispole/Castlegregory/Annascaul  in Castleisland at 7pm – please check time.

Friday, August 22nd McElligott Cup Junior: Castleisland Desmonds V Na Gaeil in Tralee.
