St. Kieran’s GAA Club is hosting a Golf Classic at Castleisland Golf Club on this Saturday, October 11.

The format on the day is a team of two single stableford, with one score to count at each hole playing off full handicaps.

The entry fee is €40 per team and €20 of this will go to Castleisland Golf Club and thereby giving participants the opportunity to support two local clubs.

“The event is kindly sponsored by two local businesses. Con’s Bar and Grill are the main event sponsors, and The Treasure Chest is sponsoring ‘the Longest Drive’ and ‘Nearest the Pin’ competitions.

The new course layout, Island View, will be in operation on the day.  This layout is proving very popular with all who have played it recently.

Such fundraisers are of huge importance to St. Kieran’s in preparing the club teams to compete at the highest level in county championship football at senior, under 21 and minor levels,” said club spokesperson, Dan Neligan.

“The golf classic will also support Castleisland Golf Club which is currently in the process of forming as a members club. The golf club has produced some fantastic young talent in recent years. This illustrates the importance of the club in promoting a healthy lifestyle for the youth of the area.

Anyone wishing to take-part can book online at:  www.castleislandgolfclub.com or can phone 085 28 10195. The prize presentation will take place that night, Saturday October 11, in Con’s Bar and Grill at 9.30pm,” said Mr. Neligan.
