Castleisland Community College progress in Moynihan Cup

Castleisland Community College Gaelic Football team put two victories back to back against St. Michael’s College, Listowel 7-09 to 4-10 and against St. Joseph’s, Secondary School, Ballybunion 2-14 to 0-11. This  secured them a quarter final place against the runners up of group B which will be the winners of St. Patrick’s College Castleisland or Causeway Comprehensive School due to be played this week.

St. Michael’s College, Listowel,  winners of the competition in 2013,  offered tough opposition on October 1st away in Duagh, going a point up at half time and finishing the second half with two late goals to flatter the score board.

St. Joseph’s Ballybunion also provided a tough test for the community college team at a rain soaked, Castleisland Desmonds pitch on October 10th.

The ball slipped from possession on both sides on numerous occasions in the first half and the interval saw the score at 0-07 each.

The weather improved in the second half and the passes started to stick and goals early in the second settled the affair for the Castleisland college team.
