Climbers around the country will converge on Mangerton Mountain in Killarney this morning, November 16th for a huge charity event.

Climb4Life aimed to attract both novice and experienced climbers in its ongoing bid to raise funds for the Build4life Cystic Fibrosis Charity.

The charity has been providing life saving services for people with lung illnesses at Cork University Hospital and facilities are being upgraded there constantly as funds become available.

Groups from Tipperary and Cork who have family members with CF committed to the ‘Climb4Life’ event early on and the organisers were confident that it will be a great day out. They’re certainly getting the break in the weather which they had been hoping for.

A team of Castleisland locals are behind the  event and an off-shoot or sub-committee has been busily preparing the après-climb atmosphere and party at Browne’s Bar from 5pm this very evening.

A text I got from Neil Browne will explain everything: ” Hi all, just a quick message to let ye know that a walk/ climb is organised for this Sunday 16th Nov. for Mangerton mountain, in aid of Build4Life cystic fibrosis. If you can’t make the walk, feel free to join us in Brownes Bar from 5pm Sunday evening where we will have live music by Thomas Moran and a pig on a spit and BBQ! All welcome, and all proceeds from walk and BBQ to go to build4life! Thanks, Neil.”

It has the makings of a great evening and with that we wish all the climbers well in their efforts today.
