The health of Castleisland and surrounds is undergoing an overhaul with the addition of Unislim to the town. Under the leadership of Eileen Lane, who is also a Nutrition Advisor, the classes have been arranged for The River Island Hotel on Tuesday evenings from 6.30pm – 7.30pm.

Ms. Lane comes with quite a reputation as an inspirational and motivation orientated leader who takes a deep interest in her class members.

Unislim is Ireland’s longest running slimming and health organisation, founded in 1972 by Agnes McCourt and her late husband Brian.

According to Eileen Lane, weight issues are increasing at an alarming rate.

“Earlier this year a global study revealed that Ireland’s population has overweight and obesity levels in excess of the European average. Statistics from this study revealed that 66% of Irish men and 50.9% of Irish women over the age of 20 are considered overweight or obese. This is hugely alarming considering the associated side effects; cardiovascular risk factors including high blood pressure, high cholesterol and Type 2 Diabetes not to mention the potential psychological effects that being overweight or obese can have on an individual,” she said.

Eileen is delighted to be a part of Unislim’s great work and is eager to help individuals in achieving their health and happiness goals. “Unislim is not a fad or a quick fix. It is a lifestyle change. As part of my Unislim class I aim to educate my members about nutrition and good food not just for their own health but for the health of their families also. I hope that through my classes I can instil lifelong lessons in my members, ones that will help them to lead a happier healthier life. We are having great successes in my classes and we also have great fun!”

Eileen has a keen interest in nutrition and health, having qualified as a Nutrition Advisor from The Institute of Health Sciences in Dublin in 2013. She became very interested in the area of weight loss having studied the negative effects of being overweight/obese. “I joined Unislim as a Leader having examined in detail their positive approach to health and weight loss. The plan is very healthy and very enjoyable, promoting healthy foods and education on health and wellbeing.”

“Unislim is changing lives all over the country. I am glad to be a part of that. Unislim has also recently launched Miss Feelgood which is a healthy eating, body confidence and fitness initiative aimed at teenage girls and will be visiting local schools in the near future. This is a hugely positive step in educating our young people about their health”, according to Eileen.

Eileen also runs Unislim classes in Ballybunion (Wednesday evenings, Tinteán Theatre, 7pm – 8pm) and in Kanturk, Co. Cork (Thursday evenings, Edel Quinn Hall, 7pm – 8pm). You can Email Eileen for details of classes on:  eileenlane44252@gmail.com or contact her on 087 637 4957
