Four lucky shoppers had their names drawn from the big box at the River Island Hotel on this Monday afternoon, December 22nd at 12-30pm. This was the final of the three Castleisland Traders’ Christmas Draws. They each won €250 vouchers and there was a special draw for an overall prize of €500.

The four €250 Voucher winners drawn today by Garda Mark Bolger are: Cathal Brosnan, Kilsarcon, Currow; Ida O’Sullivan, Adriville, Scartaglin; Melissa Darlington, Mountain View, Firies and Bernie McNally and they join previous winners:  Miriam Moriarty, Ballymacelligott;  Maizie McCarthy, Farranfore;  Peggy McCarthy, Gortgloss, Castleisland and Paul O’Sullivan, Dunloe, Beaufort.

Then, Garda Mark Bolger’s arm plunged to the shoulder into the packed box for the overall winning €500 ticket and it emerged with the document bearing the name of Cáit Browne and a phone number.

The series of draws were  part of the promotion of business in Castleisland in the run up to Christmas. Anyone who spent €25 or more in any of the participating shops had a ticket filled in and were entered with a chance of winning one of these valuable vouchers.

While the traders are happy at the way the promotion went generally, they feel that a greater effort at getting the news out and about is needed for next year’s drive. They say that everything they looked at doing this year went according to plan and the November 28th switching on of the lights was an outstanding success for the association. However, an earlier start and a greater run-in to next year’s promotion is on the cards.

In the meantime, the businesses and the staff involved with the promotion of Castleisland wish all their loyal customers A Very Happy Christmas and a Peaceful New Year.
