The interim committee of Castleisland Golf Club is delighted to announce, that following its appeal earlier this month for a once off donation, that it is now in a position to proceed with a members’ club.

There is little doubt that congratulations in huge measures are due to the people who shouldered the wheel and took responsibility for Castleisland Golf Club and its shook state over the past 12 months or so. That there is white smoke this evening is due to the doggedness of their approach and to their unwillingness to let such a huge and potentially viable attraction slide into oblivion.

That would be a psychological blow the town and surroundings would find hard to get over.

It is obvious too that hard decisions had to be made and a lot was asked of those members who stood with the idea of wanting this 2002 established amenity to remain as such. There is great credit due to them this evening and their year can only get better from here. No doubt there is a lot to be done. But there’s a lot to be said for the old: Tuas MaithLeath na hOibre”  – a good start is half the work.

“We would like to thank our members, local businesses, and other golf courses in the region for their donations and support to get us through this difficult period.
