Colour, Excitement and the Hot Drop – All part of the Hunt

There was colour galore and excitement to spare on a dullish day in Castleisland when an almost 40 strong pack from the Kerry County Hunt Club rode down town on Sunday afternoon.

“The club travelled to Castleisland on Sunday and based itself at the Half Barrel where there was a very warm welcome from Kathleen O’ Connor,” said club PRO Rose Cotter.

“When all capitations were taken and tackle was double checked, the hunt was led off by our very capable hunts-man, Fred O’Connor.

And what a day was in store for this huge number of riders with ditches and dykes to suit all disciplines,” said Rose.

“A great day was had by both riders and followers alike. We would  like to  take this opportunity to  thank all the landowners for granting us the permission to use  their land for what was a great day of hunting. We’re grateful to all those involved in organising such an enjoyable day out for everyone.

We must also extend our gratitude and appreciation to all at the Half Barrel for the traditional send-off and such a feast of hot food when we returned from our day out. See you all in Scartaglin next Sunday,” Rose concluded.
