Castleisland Desmonds GAA Club extends its best wishes to Niall Mitchell who sustained a serious leg injury during the North Kerry league game in Castleisland on Sunday. Hopefully, Niall will make a complete and quick recovery.

The game had to be abandoned by referee Eddie Barrett late in the 2nd half when the injury occured

Thomas Hickey and Kieran Brennan brought their shooting boots with them and Desmond’s introduced their full range of substitutes until the injury to Niall Mitchell stopped play.

Praise came from club members on the speed at which the ambulance crew arrived from Tralee. They were also lauded for the professionalism in their care and handling of the injured defender.

The club also sends its congratulations to Ladies club secretary, Aileen Lynch in winning the TESCO Munster Club Person of the Year.

“Aileen is a great character who does literally everything from organising lifts to training and matches to singing Amhrán na bhFian at All Ireland Semi Finals. Aileen, who is a pharmacist by trade, somehow finds time to keep every aspect of the club running smoothly. Ladies Football is an important part of Aileen’s life as well as her children’s as her daughter, Cáit, is an All Star and is the current captain of the Kerry Senior Ladies team,” according to the Ladies Gaelic Football Association citation.
