An enthusiastic crowd of runners and walkers made their way around a 5km circuit of the Black Road via Scoil Muire Gan Smal. This cheerful and convivial crowd were made up of serious minded runners, beginners, grandparents, mums and dads, excited kids and tiny tots. This run was in aid of raising funds for the school. Last year’s funds were used in subsidizing swimming lessons and sports activities.

“Scoil Muire Gan small is a health promoting school. We encourage healthy eating and regular exercise. The pupils of the school have been training in preparation for the run over the last number of weeks under the professional guidance of Tina Donovan and Norielle O Leary,” said event spokesperson and teacher, Martha O’Mahony.

“The parents’ association, in association with Tina Donovan and Norielle O Leary,  have worked tirelessly as a team in the organisation of this event. Their help is invaluable and greatly appreciated. The parents of the children in the school and local businesses have been very generous in providing sponsorship for this event,” said Ms. O’Mahony.
