The death has been announced of Ballymacelligott native, Der Flynn, late of College Road, Castleisland.

A former Kerry County Council foreman, Mr. Flynn was very involved in GAA matters all his life in his native parish and later in the Castleisland District set up. He served on the committee of St. Kieran’s GAA Club and with Cordal GAA Club.

He was one of those instrumental in organising the annual Castleisland Sports Star Awards – and event which raised funds for charity in the early 1990s.  May God be good to him.

The rip.ie announcement and arrangements are as follows:

Der Flynn ex Kerry County Council , College Road, Castleisland and late of Kielduff, Tralee, peacefully at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Sadly missed by his loving wife Marie, sons Ian and Colm, daughter-in-law Sarah, beloved grandson Kian, brother-in-law Paul, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

Rest in Peace

Predeceased by his sisters Noreen and Vourneen. Reposing at Tangney’s Funeral Home, Castleisland on Friday evening from 5pm to 7pm. Private removal from his residence on Saturday morning arriving to Castleisland Parish Church for Requiem Mass at 11am . Burial afterwards in St.John’s Cemetery Castleisland . No flowers please .
