Popular demand will see local author and historian, Tommy Martin return with his lecture on Roger Casement to St. Patrick’s Boys’ Secondary School on the coming Tuesday night at 7-30pm.
Roger Casement – Nationalist, Humanitarian and Enigma is the title of the lecture.  In its course its presenter digs deeper into the life and times of this fascinating, less well known character in Irish history.
It’s the latest in the series hosted by the Castleisland and District Culture and Heritage Society.
“The lecture is lively and interesting, building a deeper knowledge and understanding of Roger Casement and his role in Irish, and indeed, World history,” said event facilitator, Maggie Prendiville.
Tommy Martin works as a self-employed business /financial consultant and trainer. A keen historian, Tommys’ book The Kingdom in the Empire – a portrait of Kerry during World War 1 was published in 2006.
He also lectures to historical societies and most recently was a guest speaker at the Daniel O’Connell Summer School.
He has lectured with Diarmuid Ferriter and Kevin Myers at the Dingle Historical Society World War One lecture series.
All are welcome to Tuesday night’s lecture at St. Patrick’s.
