HercOileán – The Expo & Car Boot Sale on July 25th

Among the fringe events at this month’s July 24th – 26th HercOileán Island Warrior weekend is an opportunity for local business people to showcase their products or services.

With a wide range of attractions it promises to be a fantastic family day out. Car Boot Sale addicts will also get their fix on that same Sunday, July 26th.

Walsh on Tour for Willie Week

Marie Walsh Tours is going all patriotic for Willie Week in Miltown Malbay and is taking a coach across the Shannon to her native Co. Clare for an evening at the world famous Willie Clancy Summer School.

There is a set and old time-dancing agenda to the trip but those admitting to music appreciation will also be accommodated on the coach.

They’re off on Tuesday July 7th. with the prospect of dancing to PJ Murrihy, Michael English and Micheal Sexton or set-dancing to the Swallows Tail Céilí Band.

Coach tickets are only €25 per person and the collection points are: Castleisland 2.15pm.; Tralee 2.30pm and Listowel 2.45pm.

The buss will take in the scenic route via the Shannon Ferry.

All Set for Garda / KDYS Soccer League

The Kerry Diocesan Youth Service (KDYS) are in cahoots with An Garda Síochána in the running of the annual soccer blitz tournament on this Wednesday evening July 1st. with a 6pm kick-off.

Known locally as ‘The Garda League’ because of it’s 2002 origins, the event may run over to tomorrow evening if the light or weather can’t facilitate a finals wrap up this evening.

The games will be held in the Castleisland AFC grounds on the Limerick Road and there are three age categories: Primary School (4th, 5th and 6th class), U-15’s and U-18’s.

The event will be supported by local businesses and tournament founder, Sgt John O’Mahony will be on hand as well as other volunteers to help co-ordinate the event.

Teams comprise of seven to ten players and there is a charge of €2 per player. Helena Falvey at KDYS is the contact at: 085 78 78 039.

Ballykissane Pier Documentary Info Search

Ballykissane Pier Tragedy documentary maker, Eva Lucey is putting out a to anyone who has stories, photos, audio or film footage relating to the tragedy that took place at the pier in 1916. She is looking for people with those kind of documents or information and are willing to share them.

“It would be of great help, as I am currently working on a documentary relating to this historical incident in Irish history. All material regardless of quality or format shall be viewed.

Any information would be most appreciated. The connecting areas being: Tralee, Banna, Killarney, Valentia, Portmagee, Killorglin and Ballykissane itself,” she said in the appeal.
