It’s back with a vengeance! Couch-to-5K is returning to An Riocht Athletic Club from Tuesday, September 29th for an 11-week ‘run’ at 7pm on each Tuesday and Thursday night and almost right up to Christmas.
Since the official opening of the athletics track 15 years ago the Couch-to-5k phenomenon has been one of the club’s major successes. This programme has attracted the masses to the club grounds on Tuesday and Thursday nights and has become a social outlet as well as a fitness drive.

Rudolph Run
Couch-to-5k is a successfully proven introduction, or reintroduction, to exercise. This winter the programme will run over 11 weeks from Tuesday, September 29th and right up until the ‘Rudolph Run’ on December 13th.
“The plan’s structure prevents newcomers from giving up and instead allows participants to see improvement in time and distance each and every week,” said An Riocht AC manager, Kate McSweeney.

Upping the Distance
“Even the walkers will find themselves upping the distance they cover each night. The C-2-5K plan is designed for inexperienced runners who are just beginning an exercise routine. While the objective isn’t necessarily to run a 5K, having a race as a goal is a great way to stay on track. Think: Fitness by Christmas,” she urged.  For more information you can click here:
