Christmas Cracker Talent Show 2015 at St. John’s

St. John’s Hall here in Castleisland played host to a wonderful evening of entertainment on Tuesday night, December 15th.
Report and Photographs by Karen O’Connor.
With over seventy students from Presentation Secondary School and St. Patrick’s Secondary School combining to perform in the talent show, it is clear Castleisland certainly has the X-Factor!
Led by the charismatic duo of Art O’Mahony and Eimear Horgan the show was quick to display the immense talent present in both schools.

Wowed the Crowd
Individual performances from Orla O’Connor, Áine Sheehan and Mary Healy wowed the crowd whilst the First Year dancers, Second Year ‘Kerry Airport’ scene and the appearance of Father Ted added to the jovial atmosphere.
In keeping with the Sliabh Luachra tradition, fifteen students took to the stage to perform a ‘Rambling House’ scene complete with a performance of the brush dance. To conclude Act 1, Siobhán Brosnan and Laura Daly mesmerised the audience with a beautiful ballet performance to the Frozen theme ‘Let it go.’

Teresa Mannion Guest Appearance
RTE News’ ever popular reporter Teresa Mannion made a guest appearance to welcome the crowd back after the break, before Third Year girls awed the audience with an excellent review of 2015. With almost twenty acts in total a wonderful night was had by all with poetry, group singing performances and further dance acts all taking to the stage.

Artful Guitar Performance
MC on the night Art O’Mahony concluded the show with a stunning guitar performance of ‘The River’ before being joined onstage by all the performers on the night.
The highlight of the night was the launch of the ever popular Killinaskully Community Radio.
We wish the group a long and illustrious career in broadcasting! Mar a deir an seanfhocal: ‘Taithí a dhéanann máistreacht.’
