…and Coucht-to-5K is back on Tuesday and Thursday nights from February 9th at 7pm.

The fitness team at An Riocht AC has put a Starter Series programme of classes together and they’ve stripped out what they call ‘The Scare Factor’ from the comprehensive plan. This will, they claim, have even the most unfit up and at it and enjoying the programme for the spring and summer.

“You’ve got to start somewhere, right? You’ve been feeling tired and sluggish for as long as you can remember and pangs of guilt accompany any mention of health and fitness, be it on TV or in conversation. You know you haven’t been on the right track and you know the longer it goes on the harder it will be to ever find the right one,” said An Riocht AC manager, Kate McSweeney at the launch of the programme.

A Stepping Stone to Fitness
“There are so many people that fit into this category, so many people waiting for something, a stepping stone, to achieving fitness. By taking these 30 minute classes, little by little, a little becomes a lot and before you know it you’ll be up there with the best of them.

“Our instructors, Tara Walmsley,  Cian O’Connor, Maggie O’Sullivan and Eoghan Courtney have designed and crafted a programme of classes that are aimed to get people on the right track without the scare factor. Way too often we start into exercise too fast, performing to a level that is shocking to the mind and to the body. With the Starter Series the gradual build up is key. People will notice little improvements and will gain confidence with each week and even start to really enjoy being fit,” said Kate.
